The IRS has released its data book for 2016 tax year. The data book contains important IRS statistics for FY 2016 such as enforcement statistics, number of returns filed, amount of taxes paid, etc.
I have not read the data book in detail, but it appears as though IRS enforcement is decreasing in comparison to last year. This decrease along with the proposed budget cuts to the IRS will probably indicate that IRS enforcement should also decrease in 2017. But, I have included a link to the data book below.
